Durban Shark Cage Diving: A Thrilling Oceanic Blacktip Experience

Start your Durban shark cage diving adventure early, around 7 am, at our dive centre in Umkomaas and Park Rynie. From these coastal spots, we launch our impressive semi-rigid rubber boat, the Superduck, through the surf for a 20-minute ride to a prime shark hotspot. Upon arrival, our crew begins baiting the water with sardines and anchovies to attract the sharks. Within just 10 to 20 minutes, you can expect anywhere from 5 to 25 Oceanic Blacktip sharks to appear around the cage, creating an awe-inspiring spectacle.

Once the sharks arrive, you’ll have the opportunity to spend 30 minutes to an hour in the water, depending on the conditions. You can choose to stay in the cage, which accommodates 4 to 6 people, or snorkel outside the cage, freely swimming around the boat and cage with these incredible predators. If you’re diving between January and March, you might even have the chance to encounter the elusive Tiger shark.

After your dive, we’ll pack up and return to shore, where you can warm up with a cup of coffee and enjoy a hot shower to wrap up your thrilling Durban shark cage diving experience.
